A voice control plug-in that allows your to take audio notes from your favorite audio-books and podcasts.
To begin, just say “ Alexa, take audio clip."
1. Basic Function
Just say “Alexa, take audio clip!”. Audio Notes can automatically generate a 30 seconds audio clip for you.
You can change the duration of clip by saying “ Alexa, change clip duration”, you are able to change duration between 30 seconds to 1 min.
After taking the audio clip, Alexa will ask you if you want to add a personal comments, or by simply saying “Alexa, add comments”, you are able to add your personalized comment to the audio-clip generated.
AudioNotes will transcript the audio clip along with your personal notes and send it to your default email address.

1. Smooth Experience for audio listeners
We understand audio listeners want uninterrupted and undisturbed experience when listening to their favorite podcast/ audio-books. The goal is to create smooth and gentle "pardon me" interruption of taking audio notes. In order to achieve the goal, we set trigger words, and voice control interaction to minimum. The trade off is the audio clip length is set as a default duration, in lieu of being asked to set up clip length each time you want to take audio notes, users could only adjust the duration using independent voice command.
2. why not Building an inclusive app?
Instead of building an application where you can take and store audio notes within applications, we choose to build a plug-in and send audio clip and transcript through email. We did some research on podcast/audiobook industry, and we found out that there are many independent podcasts and audio-book platforms. People switch platforms to listen to different categories of podcasts. For instance, some quirky podcasts are not available on mainstream platforms; Another example will be, podcasts with different language background usually live in very different platforms. We want our product to be more inclusive and open to all of these platforms, thus we settled at the format of "Alexa skill" and "plug-in".
3. Sending audio transcript through emails
Just like a person with a messy desk could easily find what he needs, while he would probably have a hard time to locate stuffs after his desk is cleaned up, we believe users should maintain their existing notes organizing habits. Users have various preferred ways of taking notes. Some use Evernotes, while others prefer paste on their iphone Notes apps. There is no right or wrong.
By sending audio transcript through emails, we encourage users to keep their own way of note taking, by simply copy and paste from their email contents.
